Beginning Rug Hooking Class Schedule:
Second Wednesday of each month, September - May (11-2)
Feb. 10, March 10, April 14 or May 12
Come see what the world of rug hooking is all about! You will enjoy learning about this North American folk craft. Designed for first-timers, this class is an introduction to the basics of primitive rug hooking: color, texture, methods, techniques, history, styles, and materials used in hooking.
We will start by exploring the materials used in hooking, choosing a pattern, cutting our strips and move on to learning hooking techniques and establishing a color plan. Time at home for working on your first project will help you to become more comfortable and ready to continue at "open studio", just a few weeks away! Then join our hooking group for a free hook-in at the end of the month, where you can continue to work on your project or begin a new one.
Class size is limited to 4 participants.
Cost: $30 plus the cost of materials ($30-$50 depending on size of pattern)
Supplies to Bring to Class: small quilting hoop, small fabric scissors and lots of enthusiasm! We have extra hooks and hoops available for use or purchase.
